Operations and Utilization of Kibo

Providing support for manned space flights was the main objective envisioned for Kibo when the company was first established in 1990, and currently the largest number of employees are working. Our flight controllers monitor, control and analyze the status of Kibo on a constant basis from the Kibo Mission Control Room at the JAXA Tsukuba Space Center, and real-time coordination is made through hotlines linking them with astronauts onboard and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in USA.

We are still challenging for more sophisticated and efficient operation to have outcome from Kibo maximized and accumulate skills and technologies necessary for upcoming the International Space Exploration. The challenge enables us to operate robot arm on Kibo remotely from ground on behalf of astronaut who had been the prime operator.
