Multi-Protocol Converter (MPC) Soft Bag Trash Bag
The MPC is an image transfer and processing system developed jointly with B.U.G Inc. on behalf of JAXA. Since used on ISS in October 2007, the MPC has been adopted as standard ISS equipment and is used in the Japanese, American and European experiment modules. The soft bag, developed by JAMSS, is used to store experimental and observation equipment on the HTV during transportation to the ISS. The bag provides fire and vibration protection at HTV launch. The soft bag was used in the first flight of HTV in September 2009. The trash bag, developed by JAMSS, is used to store waste and disused items of the Kibo module. Once full, the trash bag is loaded onto HTV-R and incinerated during re-entry into the earth. The trash bag was used in the first flight of HTV in September 2009.
