The platform offers can accommodate payloads ranging from only 3U up to ~1.3m³ (~46ft³) and weighing up to 450kg (990lb). In its all-in-one space mission service, Airbus takes care of all mission elements, from necessary paperwork through launch and operations to payload return (optional) – except the payload development itself.

SPAd also has another configuration pakcked in in a 4-8 U free-flyer satellite. This configuration enables performance of chemical and biological reaction that cannot be performed above the ISS due to safety considerations.

MISSE provides external environment such as extreme levels of solar- and charged-particle radiation, atomic oxygen, hard vacuum and temperature extremes for testing any technology including electronics, solar cells, materials and biologics. Exposure to any orbital direction (ram, wake, zenith and nadir) is available. Utilities include power, data, photographs and environmental sensors. MISSE can elevate spaceflight technology readiness to TRL-8 “Flight Qualified”. There is a MISSE launch and a return flight about every six months for the life of the ISS.
