Kirara will be launched to the ISS in December 2021

On December 21, 2021, "Kirara," which means shiny in Japanese, will be launched to the International Space Station (ISS) on a Space-X Dragon. This is the third mission of Kirara. The following companies, research institutions and the national university will participate in the mission. Some of them have been participating since Kirara first mission. Team of Prof. Igarashi, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, University of Tokyo who achieved first cellulose synthesis by enzyme in space will launch samples related to the government project. InnoStudio will launch samples to validate its breakthrough results for COVID-19 drug research and pharmaceutical stability in space, obtained before. We also have samples prepared by school children in Kirara STEAM program. As an auxiliary mission, Kirara accommodate SD cards and Labels for SDGs activities and promotion of space utilization.
