Kirara#5 mission has been completed

2024.01.31

“Kirara”, which has been launched by SpaceX CRS-29 to the International Space Station (ISS) on Nov 10, 2023, completed a one-month mission and returned to Japan on January 5, 2024.

The experimental samples were returned to the researchers and students after confirmation by Kirara technical team. We hope that the results of this experiment will contribute to cutting-edge research and development, such as drug discovery research and new materials research.

In the space education mission, a total of 65 middle and high school students from Japan and Taiwan challenged making protein (lysozyme) crystals. After checking the experimental samples, many high-quality crystals were confirmed, and the space experiment was a great success! The students will now compile their experiment reports and make presentations in March.

The Kirara was also equipped with an SD card that recorded messages from space agencies and space business representatives in Asian countries. Goals, dreams, wishes, and messages to their loved one were delivered to space.

Through the Kirara project, we will continue to support the space industry, which has been booming in recent years, and will continue to provide user-friendly and flexible services as the first ISS Commercial Service Provider (CSP) in Japan.
